Faith, that unseen quality of the great cloud of witnesses of Heb. 11 produces at least two very visible items, obedience and confidence. Each example has one or both of these.

Before that, in Heb. 2:9 it says, "He by the grace of God should taste death for every man." He died my death, your death, everyone's death; that is the second one, as we will all pass away from this world once. In Heb. 11:8 we see obedience; "By faith Abraham when called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, OBEYED; and WENT OUT not knowing whither he went."

- By faith the source of the action Obeyed and went out of the action itself.

In Acts 8:26-7 we see, "And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza which is desert. And he arose and went."

For confidence, we can look at Abraham and Gen. 22. All of history depended on David's choice right there. God had asked him to sacrifice his son, his only son, through whom Isreal was to increase in number and Abraham obeyed. Sure it's confidence in God that Abraham followed what God commanded, but look at the last sentence in verse 5. He said WE will come back to you, where Abraham had confidence that with his obedience, God would allow Isaac to go back down with him. Then look at verse 16, ".. I swear by myself, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand of the seashore."
